Renovations nearly complete at southern Indiana church that provides resources for the homeless
JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. —
Major renovations are completed at a southern Indiana church that helps hundreds of people experiencing homelessness.
West Maple Baptist Church has been undergoing renovations since October. From a complete makeover of the bathrooms to fresh new paint, to donated washers and dryers.
The community organization Jesus Cares at Exit 0 uses the space several times a week providing resources to more than 100 people experiencing homelessness.
It’s been 3 weeks since people have been utilizing the appliances.
“Some of our guys, when we first opened it up – the first few that came in, it was over a month that they’ve had a shower, so they were extremely grateful even though it was 7 or 10 minutes,” Paul Stensrud, the Director of Jesus Cares at Exit 0.
Stensrud says they have a need right now for laundry detergent and dryer sheets.
